John Pyles

John Pyles is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Psy.D. Candidate in Clinical Psychology at Argosy University, where he earned his M.A.  John has over 12 years of experience providing behavioral health services. John’s doctoral thesis involved “Integrating Behavioral and Relational Approaches for the Treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorders for Asian American Families”.  He completed his internship at Alaka’i Na Keiki, where he is currently a supervisor and trainer. John’s professional experience  includes having worked as an Autism Consultant, School-Based Behavior Therapist, Telephone Counselor with the Suicide Crisis Center, and Mental Health Specialist and Group Counselor at Kahi Mohala.  John completed a practicum with the Honolulu Family Therapy Centre, where he conducted psychological and psychosexual assessments of adolescents and adult sex abuse offenders, and also conducted group therapy for adult sex offenders. He also completed a practicum at Ai Pono, where he provided individual therapy for clients with eating disorders. This year through ANK,  John is a clinician-participant in the Hawaii 2011/2012 TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) Learning Collaborative.
